Central Oregon angels spread the love to Bend startups

The Bend-based angel fund Cascade Angels is the latest investor to sign on to this year’s Bend Venture Conference.
The conference is slated for Oct. 17 in downtown Bend where 10 companies will compete for investment in two different categories. Cascade Angels are investing $121,900 into the conference’s LLC entity. That money will then be invested into the winner of the launch stage competition.
Julie Harrelson, fund manager for Cascade Angels, said the fund is pleased to make the investment and ensure local startups can find local capital.
Investors to the LLC are continuing to come in. Other investors are the Oregon Growth Account, at $50,000, and the Oregon Community Foundation, at $25,000.
“The angels are the behind-the-scenes investors who make the BVC what it is. Economic Development For Central Oregon is thrilled that (Cascade Angels) is part of the fast-moving network of ideas, capital, mentorship, and talent that the BVC brings together,” said EDCO Venture Catalyst Brian Vierra said in a written statement. “Their investment will directly help launch a startup from an early stage company to a scalable, funded venture.”
Companies that are earlier than launch stage will compete for a $10,000 cash prize from BendBroadband.
