More Information on the Bend Venture Conference

At BVC, there are three competition categories – Growth Stage, Impact and Early Stage, with three to five finalists (companies) selected in each category. Applicant companies for all categories can be located anywhere in the United States.

GROWTH STAGE

Companies applying in the growth stage competition typically:

Have a proven concept;
Have generated initial revenues;
Are prepared to scale quickly with investment.

Generally speaking, companies that have generated at least $1M in product revenue in the last 18 months and/or have raised at least $500K in external capital including non-dilutive grants and are seeking to raise $250K-2.5MM+ in investment capital in the next 6-12 months.

All applicants, regardless of whether or not they are a finalist, have the opportunity to receive feedback from the investor group.

BVC rehearsal, seminars, reception, and competition. The BVC will be held at the Tower Theatre in downtown Bend.

IMPACT

Companies applying to the Impact competition:

Are for-profit enterprises are post-revenue, but are still early in the evolution of their business.
Have a social and/or environmental mission integrated into their business model such that it is a core competency and not an “add-on.”
Companies should be aiming to generate long-term enterprise value and attractive returns on capital.

All applicants, regardless of whether or not they are a finalist, have the opportunity to receive feedback from the investor group.

Weekly Due Diligence meetings occur with the BVC Impact, LLC investors

EARLY STAGE

Companies applying in the early stage competition typically:

Have a proof of concept
Are early revenue and traction
Are in the process of testing their product in the market.

Generally speaking, companies that are pre-revenue or have generated less than $1M in product revenue in the last 18 months; have raised less than $500K in external capital including non-dilutive grants; and are seeking to raise $1M or less in investment capital the next 6-12 months.

All applicants, regardless of whether or not they are a finalist, have the opportunity to receive feedback from the investor group.

Early September, 2022

Upstart Day – all Early Stage companies make their pitch, receive feedback, and are screened for Central Oregon PubTalk.

September 22, 2022

At EDCO’s Central Oregon PubTalk, judges and a sold-out crowd will vote for the five Early Stage companies advancing to BVC.

October 1 – 2, 2022

BVC finalists participate in a 30-minute pitch coaching session.

October 20 – 21, 2022

BVC rehearsal, seminars, reception, and competition. The BVC will be held at the Tower Theatre in downtown Bend.

**The Top 10 Growth Stage, Early Stage and Impact semi-finalist companies will receive one complimentary ticket to attend the conference (access to all portions of the conference, noted under the EDCO Member Ticket). Finalists will also receive one additional complimentary ticket. All other applicants are entitled to a free virtual Bend Venture Conference ticket or may apply a $125 credit towards the amount of an upgraded conference ticket. Application fees are non-refundable.**
